*we brought 16 kids on a field trip to Lake Pontchartrain on July 4th weekend. we swam all day, played in the sand, flew kites and picknicked. thanks to all volunteers to helped out!

*5 youth from RUBARB helped send off cyclists at the beginning of the alleycat race to benefit Food Under Claiborne. We first stopped at Plan B to check it out and then met up with the racers in Washington Park.

*Congratulations to Louis who won a stationary bike competition at the Whirling Dervish. Way to represent!

*we've had great volunteers this month! Some Americorps volunteers spent a day thoroughly cleaning the outside of the shop and made the parking lot look immaculate, while former Peace Corps volunteers who served in Sierra Leone, Malawi, China and Niger, spent a Saturday stripping bikes, painting with kids, sorting through parts... thanks to all!

*Plan B (www.bikeproject.org) has donated their kid's bikes to us. We picked up a bunch this month and plan on getting more in the future.

*The Sibley Bike Depot in St. Paul, MN (www.bikeped.org) sent a shipment of sweet bikes to RUBARB. we now have a bunch of 3 speeds available for fixing up/purchase. Thanks fellow bike supporters!

*our very own Josh Willis competed in an alley cat and came in 8th place!
